Pestilence Penitence and Putrefaction: A Medical History of Winchester Cathedral
For nearly 1400 years, those associated with the Cathedrals in Winchester have played an important part in the care of the sick and management of disease. This tour recounts the history of medicine in relation to the structure of the present Cathedral and the people commemorated within it.

Explore the college’s War Cloister which is the largest private War Memorial in Europe. The guided tour brings to life the stories of those students and staff commemorated here. There many architectural features within the Cloister too.

Founded in 1132 this is one of England’s oldest continuing Almshouses, where you may still receive the Wayfarer’s Dole from the Porters Lodge.
Time 11.00am, please arrive by 10.45am for a guided tour with Brother John.

Transport The number 1 Blue Line Bus from Southampton to Winchester stops outside The Hospital of St Cross entrance.
Car parking is very limited.
Refreshments Tearooms in The Hundred Men’s Hall, within St Cross serving tea, coffee, soft drinks, home-made cakes with vegan options, and other sundries.
Booking opens 3rd March at 9.00am until noon and continues at the general meeting.
